I got this message today. I felt sad that Geocities is CLOSING.

On October 26, 2009, your GeoCities site will no longer appear on the Web, and you will no longer be able to access your GeoCities account and files.
My very first website was in Geocities. It was built in 1998 and was then accessible in the little neighborhood at www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Hall. I remember using Microsoft Publisher 1997 then.
After learning Macromedia and Frontpage, on my own, I developed a new family website (below) in 2002. It is still accessible at www.geocities.com/zimmbodilion. I've been updating it until I switched into Blogging (blogger.com and wordpress.com) in 2005. In 2008 and 2009, youtube.com and facebook.com have been taking over my online life!
Geocities... I owe you a lot. Sa iyo nagsimula ang lahat... nasa puso kita magpakailanman! (DRAMA!)
